The race is not always won by the fastest, a fight is not always won by the strongest, a beautiful girl’s heart is not always won by the most handsome or charming guy, it is won by those who believe that they can do it. The world is not changed by those who have the resources to do so, but by those who have a positive mindset about themselves. Some people are rich not because they inherited billions or they had an unfair advantage that others did not have, but because they believed that they could do it. It is not our physical outlook that shape who we are, but the mental outlook that propels us into action is what defines us. We are who we think we are. The higher we think about ourselves, the better we become.

Although Adamski knew that he was not the crown prince to the throne, he was aware that there were other ways of serving his people besides being a King. His disadvantage was that he had a small statue; therefore, he was not eligible to join the elite of the army. That did not deter him from dreaming big and wanting to achieve something for his tribe and help protect his fellow countrymen. He always argued that his small body was not a good enough excuse to make him not fight like other men. The soldiers despised him, and the women made fun of him.

Alone and without anyone’s command, Adamski inspected the security structure of the kingdom looking for weak spots and where he thought reinforcements were necessary. He realized that the kingdom was well protected and had a secret tunnel which the soldiers could turn to when they are overpowered. He realized that the roof was weak and falling apart. The two doors that led in and out of the tunnel were intact. In less than two winters, the kingdom was attacked by an allied force of mercenaries from the northern mountains. The kingdom was in despair. A defeat was inevitable.

Adamski, in a moment of brilliance and individual military ingenuity, summoned the army to retreat to the secret bunker in a specified format. As they retreated, the mercenaries were in hot pursuit. The managed to trap the mercenaries in the tunnel and then barricaded the gates. A few soldiers were tasked to destroy the roof. As the roof and building crumbled, so did the mercenaries. The mercenaries had been defeated, though at the expense of the city’s fortress, but they did not mind because they had time and freedom to build another one.

Adamski was not a soldier. but a determined citizen who believed he had a role to play in the kingdom’s security. Even in the face of defeat, he never gave up. Defeat does not mean being beaten by opponents; it means quitting fighting back. His mind never gave up, although all military logic was pointing to a massive battle loss. He was not an envied soldier, neither was he counted among men in his kingdom, but he believed that he had a huge role to play in saving his homeland and people.
