Some of the greatest people in history, be it in music, writing or any other industry, attribute their success to inspiration. Many people were born without anything, they grew up with almost nothing, but they held on to inspiration because they knew how powerful it was to take them to stardom. An inspired soul is like a veld fire. It cannot be controlled or tamed; it can only inspire those around it. Inspiration gives strength to the weak; it quenches those who are thirsty and is now only short of raising the dead.
Lolothira was a great and respected warrior of his tribe. He was a great and fearless fighter. He had had saved his King and people in many battles. As time went on, the region gained peace and stability. War became a thing of the past, and the legendary of Lolothira died down. He slid into oblivion. The King forgot about him. The people did not talk about him as often as they used to do. He lost his friends, as they were all tired of living in his shadows.
Although he had lost his glory, he was happy that the kingdom was at peace with surrounding kingdoms. He knew that his cattle would always be fed. He happily planted and looked after his crops knowing that he did not have to run away. As he became more and more lonely, he found solace in music. He loved playing the harp and trumpet. As fate would have it, he was summoned to the palace by the King. He fell in love with the princess. As he looked into her eyes, he saw sparks, and he believed that the gods had approved of their union.
As per custom, no man would just ask for the princess’ hand in marriage. He had to win his heart. After a few months, all the young and eligible men of the kingdom were invited to the ceremony. Lolothira, feeling confident of his harp skills, decided to perform first and win the heart of Princess’ heart. He majestically played the flute, but the princess was not impressed.
Feeling dejected, he left the palace and wandered into the woods, the only place that felt like home to him. He listened to the birds sing. He watched them freely perch on treetops. He saw the peace and harmony that existed in the woods and how the animals loved their kind of life. Without any moment’s notice, inspiration struck him, and he played the harp like he had never done before. As he gave his soul to the beat of the harp, he played it louder and louder without realizing that he had caught the attention of the palace. Everybody in the palace, including the King and his daughter, followed the sound of the harp, for its melody was natural and beautiful.
When the princess saw him, her heart melted away. He had won her heart. The princess was his. As he looked back, he saw that it was an only inspiration that allowed him to impress the princess and the whole kingdom. From that day on, he became a warrior and protector of the woods, for he knew that it was the only place that provided him with inspiration, and he treasured the place more than anything else.
